I found your services extremely helpful. I had no perspective on what different colleges and universities are like, but you were very knowledgeable about different schools. You have a very good knowledge of a broad number of colleges, with on ground experience and up to date, and your team approach allows for flexibility on response, views and different level of advice according to the kid profile and target schools. You are very realistic about the achievable goals (you could even be a bit more risk takers even if probabilities are not high for a target school).

We first learned about Aly when we saw one of her postings on Facebook.  We had met with one other IEC prior to Aly,  but did not continue, primarily due to cost.  Aly is very tuned into what is going on with the admissions "scene".  I also liked that she spent a lot of time interviewing our son and getting a sense of who he was and which colleges would be right for him.  Without this, he might have applied to small, liberal arts colleges that would not have been right for him.  Also, I felt like I could reach out with questions or thoughts any time, day or night, and Aly would respond right away - it was like working with a friend.  My son has said that he liked his conversations with Aly because they were informal.  He didn't feel like Aly was pushing him, but that they were working together with the same goals.  He had heard about other counselors who just push their own ideas onto students and he didn't feel that way working with Aly.  We would absolutely recommend Aly.  We started with a request for help with the college list, during the summer before senior year.  We thought that would be all we needed.  However, her insights into the strategic aspects of the process made us realize that we wanted her advice on essay topic selection, describing the activities section of the common app, reaching out to admissions officers, and more.  Aly ended up guiding us until the end!  I would recommend Aly to anyone who is looking for help with list development and strategic insights during the process.  Our son sees  Aly as extremely committed - sometimes even more so than himself!  In his own words, "It was great to feel that there was someone totally on my side and enthusiastically supportive.  She was always thinking about the process, which was awesome."   I agree - we really felt that we were supported at every step in the process - Aly was in our corner the entire time.  This was so important, especially during a process that can be very overwhelming and stressful.  As aptly summarized by our son, " I thought that the process was exactly what I needed - not too overbearing, keeping me on the right track.  I didn't want or need a day-to-day, step-by-step check in, but more of a strategic guide, which was what Aly provided."

I had the pleasure of working with Admissions Village for both of my sons.  The time, attention, and support for each of them as well as for myself was invaluable.  I am by nature a very anxious person, and I felt that AV not only helped the boys, but also helped me!  I like to joke that often one's job is to manage expectations, and AV did a wonderful job of managing all of our expectations regarding the college application process.   The effort that was made not only in regards to finding the right social and academic fit, but the right financial fit as well.  I was impressed with some of the more candid conversations I had with Aly regarding what we, as a family, were prepared, as well as able, to pay.
